Professional Training

Picture
South Coast Sport Horses is a full service training facility that focuses on bringing along show horses from the start of their career under saddle through campaigning a show career. We specialize in developing green, young, and off the track horses into local and national caliber champions. We regularly accept horses in for training from all over Texas, as well as the East and West coast. Our program is designed to creat a calm, confident, and curious horse that displays a willing attitude, and sheer brilliance in the show ring. Fairly "old school" in our ways, we spend a fair amount of time working in the field or on trails as well as working in the arena. Our young horses are often mistaken for show ring veterans based on their demeanors alone.

Owner/Trainer Ali Hamann began starting the show career of young horses and ponies at age 13, and many of those horses have gone on to great success, including Grand Prix Show Jumpers, Junior/Amateur Owner Hunters, Pony Finals Winners, Eventing Stars, and Fox Hunters. Our training methods stem from many years of working with top trainers and breeders of the sport, and over a decade of independant professional experience. We work very closely with our excellent team of equine massage therapists, chiropractors, farriers, and vets to ensure each and every horses physical and health needs are met while in our training program, ensuring them every opportunity to excel in an optimal time frame.

Though the platform of creating well exposed, quiet, willing horses is the same, each horse has their training program specifically tailored to their individual needs. Age, previous training (or lack thereof), and riding goals are all taken into consideration when designing each program. Most of all, we focus on how each horse thinks and processes the training requests made to them. For instance, does a the horse pick right up with what you are asking, or do they almost look at you dumbfoundedly? Are they trying to come up with an answer, or trying to get out of work? This is where the trainers ability to be truly in tune with her horses thoughts is key, and knowing when to ask a little more, and when to back off is imperitive.

As your horse works through the levels of training, they will be hauled regularly to outside arenas and trails at no additional expense to the client. They will be exposed to dogs, cattle, donkeys, and even the always intriguing, and often frightening, miniature horses. We trim ears, muzzles, legs, and bridlepaths regularly; pick feet, groom, and vacuum daily, and bathe horses as needed. We handle all appointments for veterinary, farrier, dental, massage therapy, and adjustments (with client consent, of course), and keep our clients up to date and well informed on how their horses is doing in training and in general. We fully understand that sending your horse to a trainer can be quite nerve-wrecking, and are happy to provide you with a long list of happy clients and owners, as well as professional references. You will be happy to know that our facility is also under 24/7 full color, HD surveilance that streams directly to our cell phones, as well as a recording device, and provides us with motion detection alerts. Our address is also kept private for the safety and privacy of our animals and clients, and you can not get on our property without being provided with the gate code (that is changed regularly). Our horse fencing is mesh wire with pipe top rail, and our facility is always growing and improving to provide our equine athletes with everything possible to truly succeed.
